Stephanie, her hubby, and two cats enjoy living and traveling full time in their RV, often camping off-grid to stretch their budget. Free camping on public lands Source Camping Styles There are numerous opportunities to save money camping in an RV, but first, you will need to decide on the level of comfort and amenities you want. I’ve divided camping opportunities into 3 categories: This is the most expensive type of camping, but there are bargains to be found. Full hookups usually include connections to electric, water and sewer, but some campgrounds will also provide cable TV, telephone and other amenities. This is the most expensive way to camp, but you can still find cheap camping. Most private campgrounds that provide full hookups also give you the choice of partial hookups only electric or water and electric, but no sewer for a cheaper rate. Boondocking, also referred to as dry camping, refers to camping in natural areas without amenities. Boondocking is one of the least expensive kinds of camping as you are not paying for utilities, clubhouses or a lot of amenities.

We had a 22′ RV so we were able to go on the winding roads in the park to the Visitor Center and the General Sherman tree, and out the north side. Our site was not level 12 but it appeared the sites in the 20’s were level, from driving around the campground. We parked so our heads were on the uphill side of the unit and we were fine with not being level, since we were there only one night. There are no connections. The bathrooms are adequate, and there is electricity in the bathroom that we could use for our coffee grinder.
There were many tent campers.

We have camped here previously in tent and had enjoyed our stay so we decided to go back in the trailer. There was a creek about 20 feet from our trailer and we could hear running water at all times.

Kodachrome has two campgrounds.
Basin Campground is the larger of the two, with standard and full hookup sites. This is the most scenic of the two, set close to spires and hills. Although a couple of standard and full hookup sites are first-come, first-served, the rest of the individual sites are reservable, and due to the popularity of this park, it’s best to book a site in advance.

Thursday, May 3, On the Road to Sequoia National park – April 30th, We were invited to see our niece Morgan is get married on the 4th of May in Southern California, and never wanting to miss a party, we accepted the invitation. Carol had the amazing idea that while on the way that we stop at Sequoia National park for a couple of days so that we could check it, as well as it’s sister park of ‘Kings Canyon’ out.
Well, as usually, Carol’s idea was amazing! The RV park here is a little on the rustic side, but for us, it was very enjoyable. This park has everything we could want. It has full hook ups, a river near many of the camp sites, and an amazing Dog Bark Park that was rarely used by the other RV’ers. Though the park is a little on the rustic side, it is very well maintained. We even found that there is a swimming hole on the property. Though dogs are not allowed in the swimming hole, they are allowed down stream a ways.
The park has RV sites as well as tent camping sites and is open all year long. We arrived at the park on Sunday and set up camp. Though it was a cloudy day, we could not have been more pleasantly surprised by what we discovered. This national park is just amazing as far as the vista’s that you come across while you are exploring the area.
